The Kiwanis Cottage at the North Carolina Boys and Girls Homes is in dire need of renovation. Built in 1964 the cottage has provided safe sanctuary for hundreds of displaced hurting children needing a stable caring home environment. Sadly, the cottage is tired, run down and outdated with cement block walls, aging electrical systems and plumbing, worn furniture, dated kitchen appliances – the list goes on and on.
It is time to bring our Kiwanis Cottage into the 21st century, making it once again an inviting refuge for hurting, displaced youth, While the building itself is structurally sound, it needs to be brought up to current standards. It then needs a “facelift,” to make it the kind of modern home environment our fellow Kiwanians would want to call Home.”
The estimated cost for renovation of our Kiwanis Cottage is $250,000.00. Your Carolinas Kiwanis District Foundation has issued a challenge to match cash donations dollar for dollar to a total of $100,000.00. With donations of $100,000.00 your District Foundation will add another $100,000.00 for a total of $200,000.00. The Carolinas District of Kiwanis International is asking local clubs and individual members to help fund this needed renovation.
Clubs and individuals may make a contribution of any amount. Contributions of $1,200.00 will be recognized as a “Kiwanis Cottage Fellowship Award” and the recipient will receive a personalized desk plaque. Clubs can designate large donations to honor one or more individuals.
